Turtle Bay Dive Resort

The food was better than I expected. I thought we’d eat in town most of the time, but we ended up dining onsite quite often because there was a good range, the food was good, and it was convenient. The facilities are well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our poolside room was clean and cozy. My fiance took a beginner dive class and then did a sardine dive, and loved both. I think this would suit couples and families.

The friendly, helpful staff were a bright spot, and the spa and massage were great. The location is convenient for town and activities, with a nice snorkeling area just in front of the resort. The pool, grounds, and facilities are beautiful. The restaurant and breakfast could be better. I’d like more salads, fruit, and healthy local dishes at breakfast, and buko on the drinks menu. The room was just average. There’s no shower door, so the bathroom stays wet after bathing, and you can’t flush toilet paper, though I understand that. A luggage stand would help, and the AC could be quieter. It was a good stay, but the hotel itself was just okay, nothing special.

The grounds were nice and the rooms clean, though the hotel feels very old. I’d probably stay again since there’s still plenty to explore in the area. The food was decent, if not the best. I was especially happy they brought in gluten free pasta for my celiac allergies. No other hotel or resort in the Philippines had done that for me. The drivers they partnered with for our transfers to and from Mactan were terrible. They were constantly on the phone while driving and overtaking recklessly. I hope we can enjoy the drive more next time.

We stayed for two nights, and the view of the bay and the grounds were even prettier than the photos. The staff were super friendly. Rooms were comfortable, with lots of space to dry clothes, though fairly basic. The food was better than expected, especially breakfast. Lunch and dinner were hit or miss, but all the pasta dishes we tried were awesome. If you’re coming to Maolboal for diving, snorkeling, canyons, and the like, think of this as a really high-caliber home base and planning center, rather than an all-inclusive five-star resort. You’ll appreciate it.
