The animal encounters were what made this stay so special. We spent ages with the African Greys and local cats near the other rooms, and hearing the Palm Cockatoo’s “wa-wa” call was a highlight. The included zoo tour takes about an hour, but there aren’t many species, mainly tigers and crocodiles, so keep expectations realistic. You can also watch staff bathe the tigers if you arrive around 7:30 AM. Our room was the “Tiger Room,” with a huge glass window looking straight at the white tigers. I watched them stretch, yawn, pace, and stare back from inches away. I arrived around 3:30 PM, and staff showed me where to park before guiding me to the room. Of the five hotels I stayed at on my Philippines trip, this was easily the most unforgettable and my favorite. Animal lovers should book this room. The room felt modern and high-end, with premium air conditioning, TV, and voice-controlled devices. There’s also a courtyard pool. We were the only guests, so we had it to ourselves for three hours. The staff seem passionate, and waking up beside a white tiger felt priceless. A couple of practical things: dinner service ends at 5:00 PM. After you order, staff bring the meal from the kitchen in takeout boxes, which you can eat poolside. Breakfast is served at the entrance restaurant, or you can take it back to your room. You can book on Klook, but you also need to contact staff through Facebook to coordinate the stay. Occupancy seemed low, but I’m glad the zoo still runs this unusual accommodation.

I was pleasantly surprised by the stay and how well the zoo theme came through. The rooms are clean and well kept, and the staff are nice. There’s a mini aviary beside the room that you can see right from the window. I also hadn’t expected part of the pool to be a jacuzzi, which was a nice touch for this kind of accommodation.

It’s peaceful here, with a nice natural setting and comfortable beds. But the pool is quite cold, and insects kept biting us even though we used common repellents like OFF lotion. There aren’t stores or restaurants open after 3 pm, so without your own food you’d have to drive about 30 minutes to the nearest city to buy something. The room’s air conditioning gets very cold, but its remote didn’t work. The TV wasn’t connected to the black box, so we couldn’t use it, and Alexa’s housekeeping command didn’t work either. They advertise the rooms for four people, yet there were only enough pillows for two.

The room and its huge balcony overlooking the trees were the best part, and that made the stay worth it for me. We were there alone, with the trees all around, and the kawa bath was really relaxing. There wasn’t much else to do, so it’s a good place to mentally recharge for a day or two. My friend and I stayed overnight last February on a promo that included a safari tour. The safari was okay, though it wasn’t well maintained and smelled strongly. The restaurant is right there, so it smells heavily of animals too.

The kawa bath was a favorite, and I liked the idea of having birds at each cottage. It’s tucked away but still near the zoo, and when it isn’t fully booked it can feel like you’re alone in the jungle. There isn’t much to do beyond the pool and a few decks, so a bigger area for guests to wander around or explore the jungle would be a nice addition. The food could be better for the price, the surroundings need more cleaning to look presentable, and staff aren’t easy to find when you need help.
