Amara Residences

A car makes it much easier to enjoy the facilities, since some are about a 10-minute drive away. The beach is accessible from the residences, but the walk down is steep, so most people drive. These are condo-style accommodations within the Club Punta Fuego complex, with lovely surroundings and sea views. Each condo has a kitchen, and there are plenty of good restaurants a short drive away. We’ve stayed three times and enjoyed every visit.

Cooking while looking out at the ocean was an amazing experience, and you can cook here as long as you don’t grill. The two rooms are large and nicely designed, and the balcony has a gorgeous sea view, though part of ours was obstructed. The sunset view was the best ever. We booked in August 2022. They offered an upgrade from Forest to Seaview, but I wanted the jacuzzi and asked to keep my original booking. It turned out the jacuzzi wasn’t working, but we let that go. The unit isn’t beachfront, so you have to ride down to the Terazzas or the Peninsula. Even with the jacuzzi issue, the rest of the unit and the usual wonderful Punta Fuego experience made it worth the price for me.

We had a four-night stay in the forest-view unit because it was the only option available when we booked. The apartment was spacious, with two bedrooms, separate living and dining rooms, a kitchen, and a large balcony with a jacuzzi. I’d consider returning because Terazzas feels exclusive and secure, and the apartment’s size worked well for our family. I do hope they improve the cleaning and provide the fully equipped kitchen they advertise. Check-in was at 2 pm. Jessica at the concierge was friendly and helpful, and we could contact her by mobile to ask for towels, toiletries, or repairs, including the broken water heater. Manuel helped us with the key. He seemed to be housekeeping or maintenance, but wasn’t wearing a Punta Fuego uniform, which confused me. The Terazzas Club is open only Friday through Sunday, with the Turtle Pool, restaurant, beach cabanas, and beach. The beach is also open to people from other resorts and non-guests of Terazzas, but it’s large enough to keep some distance. On other days we drove our own car to peninsula de Punta Fuego, about 20 minutes away. There’s no shuttle between there and Club Punta Fuego. You can still access the beach when Terazzas is closed, but it’s downhill, so you need your own car to get to the beach or Terrazas. Pets aren’t allowed, and there’s no Wi-Fi in the room. The master bedroom had a king-size bed, walk-in closet, and toilet and bath. The guest room had a king-size bed, closet, and toilet and shower. The bedding was clean and hotel quality. They supplied bath towels, but they were pool towels, with no hand or face towels. Bring your own if you want fresh, clean ones. Soap, toothbrushes, toilet paper, and shampoo were provided. In the living room there was an LED TV with Cignal and a day bed or sofa. The dining room had an electric kettle and instant coffee only. The floors throughout the unit were slippery. Our toddler fell twice and hit her neck and head on the furniture and floor. The dining room floor was also damaged and rotten. The balcony jacuzzi wasn’t clean, so we didn’t clean or use it. There wasn’t the view we expected, so we didn’t spend time out there, and the jacuzzi didn’t feel safe for our toddler. The kitchen had a stove, refrigerator, plates and utensils, pots, and pans, but the utensils were incomplete. There was no chopping board, serving plates, bowls, microwave, toaster, or rice cooker. They couldn’t provide a microwave or toaster even when asked. The refrigerator was moldy, dusty, and dirty on top; the oven hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests, and after I cleaned it, I found it didn’t work. The stove was fine. The cabinets were dusty, too. Bring dish soap, a sponge, and kitchen towels. There’s no rack for drying plates. I’d also bring frozen food to reheat, easy breakfast food, bread, snacks, rice, drinks, and enough drinking water for the whole stay.

We had a great view with nature all around, and the staff were really courteous. The rooms and beds were very nice, and our unit came with its own jacuzzi. The kitchen appliances were complete. There was no Wi-Fi, though.
