Fragoch Tourist Inn

The location is handy, just a walk to McDonald's and a few minutes from the town center. Rooms are very affordable, and the staff were kind and happy to accommodate our requests.

The wedding was the reason we stayed, since my wife’s brother was getting married in Naval. We cut the visit short by two days and left right after the wedding. The town itself felt like a dump, with what seemed to be a very low standard of living. Unless you want to rough it, I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel or anywhere else in Naval. We had booked Frogotch after checking out of the Benjamin Hotel, which was completely unlivable. We’d been told Frogotch was the nicest place in Naval. The clean, updated-looking entrance seemed promising, and we asked for their best room, the executive sweet. We booked for the rest of our planned stay, but the room wasn’t much better than the Benjamin. There was no hot water, and the twin bed was too small for my wife and me. We made it work, but any time either of us moved, we nearly knocked the other off. The room was tiny, with barely space to unpack. There were insects all over the bathroom floor. I moved the bucket in the shower and found a lizard there. I hate lizards!!! There’s no elevator, and our room was on the third floor. We ate at the restaurant one morning and got sick.

I’d booked my room online before arriving for a business trip, and check-in was smooth. They even let me check in early. The trouble was, the room key didn’t work on the doorknob. After work, I was told the employee who checked me in had mistakenly assigned a room that wasn’t included in my reservation, so I had to pay another 450 pesos. That mistake was theirs, but they still insisted I pay. I hope they don’t do this to other guests. I’ll never set foot in this hotel again. Worst hotel in Naval.

I only used the function room and catering, and the experience was so-so. The space was wide and roomy, and the staff were attentive. There was no hot or cold water dispenser, though, so we had to ask the waiter every time. Staff need more training too, since the food was served with bare hands. And the cooked pork was way over-marinated with Maggi Savor. Haha.
