Harbour Chateau

The staff were warm and pleasant, but that was the one bright spot in a badly neglected building. In my room, worn sheets had holes, and the furniture was wobbly, broken, and peeling. The first shower didn’t work. After I changed rooms, the showerhead was missing, so I had to use a freezing cold pipe. Several outlets were dead, the TV didn’t work, there was no WiFi, and mosquitoes were all over the room. There wasn’t a duty manager available to deal with any of it. The Harbour Chateau is old and tired, and needs a total overhaul. I’d save my money and stay somewhere else.

You can catch the sunset from here, with the beach just a short walk away. The young live band keeps the atmosphere upbeat, and there’s plenty of good food. It’s a relaxing place.

The rooms are arranged in an unusual way, with four rooms sharing one bathroom. Still, it’s a very nice hotel.

The location and restaurant service were good, and being near the port is handy if that’s what you need. But the insect problem was really annoying. A cockroach woke us at 4 a.m., and other insects were crawling around in the linen. If you can afford it, there are much better options.
