Babylon Oslob Coast Guesthouse

We were able to book separate affordable rooms for our kids, aged 15 and 18, which worked well for our family. The rooms looked clean overall, though the bathrooms were average, the shower pressure was low, and there was no bedside lamp. We didn't try the breakfast. The waterfront location is nice, but there's not much nearby, so next time we'd probably stay closer to the whale shark area. It's two-star accommodation, and you get what you may for.

The power went out during the night. My boyfriend checked whether it was the whole neighborhood or just the building and found the receptionist lying down. When he asked if this was normal, she only said the power would come back soon. Maybe the outage wasn't the hotel's fault, but the stay didn't feel comfortable or well managed. The air conditioning wasn't great either, though it cooled the room a bit. We booked two rooms, my boyfriend, his father and me, and the experience was bad from the start. The woman at reception was unfriendly, and we never felt welcome. Throughout the stay we felt ignored and badly treated. We were ignored whenever we came in or left, to the point that it almost became funny. The room smelled strange and unpleasant. There were cobwebs everywhere, and it was clear that cleaning wasn't being done properly. The shower was covered in limescale, with extremely weak pressure, and the sink faucet had the same problem. It felt like the bathroom hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time. The common areas were just as bad, with more cobwebs and a huge spider with lots of eggs. WiFi didn't work at all. That evening I ordered food so we could go to bed early and start our activities the next day. My boyfriend placed the order with the receptionist before going for a massage, and she said it would be brought to the room. I waited an hour, but nothing came. When I asked, she didn't realize we'd already ordered and thought I wanted to make a new order. I showed her with a translator, and only then she said the restaurant was closed. There was no apology. Kitchens in Oslob usually close around 9:30 pm and everything shuts by 10, so I didn't eat that night. Basic communication could have prevented that. This place doesn't meet even basic hostel standards. I hope this helps someone avoid a bad experience.

The bathroom was filthy, even by Philippines standards, and the hotel itself was quite poor quality. We found bedbugs. When we told the staff, they were very rude about having to put down their phones and get off their butts to deal with it. I'd recommend staying somewhere else.

Room 204 was really bad. The heater didn't work, and the air conditioning seemed stuck at 26c. The shower trickled out water very slowly. There wasn't anywhere to hang a towel or even a chair in the room, and there was no room to walk around.
