Down South 118 Beach Resort

We had a good one-night stay here. The hotel is old, but the rooms and bathroom were reasonably clean, and it’s good value for money. There are plenty of sit-outs with great ocean views. The restaurant was average. The staff were very nice, and if you book the Whale Shark experience through the hotel, they take care of it nicely. The location is good for the activity.

The room was nice, spacious, and clean, so that part of the stay was comfortable. At check-in, we were told that, as two adults and a child, we’d have to pay for an extra bed if we needed one. We said we’d let them know later. There was already a queen bed and a single bed, but the single had no sheets or blanket, so we didn’t use it or ask for another bed. Still, at checkout we were charged for an extra person or bed. When we questioned it, they said the fee was for the extra person, not specifically the bed, which hadn’t been made clear earlier. If the charge applied, they should have supplied basic bedding. The reception experience felt disappointing and unprofessional. Clearer communication about the charges and more consistent service would have made things feel more transparent and professional.

The people made all the difference here. Marie was incredibly kind and resourceful, helping us plan our whole program from Moalboal: sardine snorkeling, transport, Tumalog Falls, Sumilon Island, and whale shark snorkeling the next day, with no queuing. She also shared useful tips for Bohol just to be helpful. Edith at the front desk was lovely and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. Down South 118 Beach Resort in Oslob has a perfect location, a stunning sea view, and a clean, welcoming feel. I wholeheartedly recommend it, and we’ll definitely be back!

We only spent one night here, but it became one of our favorite stays. The hotel is by the sea, so we could jump right in and enjoy a wonderful afternoon. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and helped arrange the whale shark watching tour so we didn’t have to wait long.
