Royal Garden Hotel

The location was convenient, and breakfast and the in-room massage service were good. But the rooms are very outdated, and I woke up with bedbug bites each morning. I hadn't had bites at other places I'd stayed, so I suspect the bed. I tried calling customer service but couldn't get through, and they never replied to my email. I stayed two nights.

There was no fridge in the room, and they wanted another 350 pesos a day for a dirty one. At this price, I expected it to be included. The noise was just as disappointing: at 10:15 pm, blasting music and loud noise were still all around, even though reception said the parties had stopped 15 minutes earlier. It felt like trying to sleep in a nightclub. I usually stay at a quieter hotel in Ozamis, and this one costs more. Very disappointed.

We've been staying at this hotel since 2014 whenever we set up store branches, starting with Geegemall. This time, though, I felt disrespected by the front desk officer, Danica. I needed to extend my stay until September 10, but she said my current room was already booked. I accepted that and said I could rest and leave my things in my colleague's room for the meantime, since I had duty at 3PM. My colleague was still traveling, and when I followed up, Danica said the room couldn't be released because the existing 2 rooms hadn't been paid for. I felt she doubted that we intended to pay, even though I had explained my colleague was on the way with the payment. I kept following up, but couldn't use the room until 2PM and felt ignored while the staff seemed busy. Once my colleague arrived, the front desk said the balance could be paid at checkout. I was left wondering why I had been put through all that earlier if that was possible all along. I also asked to speak to a manager and was ignored. I've stayed in plenty of hotels for 15 days to a month at a time and have never had staff so eager to collect payment upfront. We aren't the kind of company to avoid our obligations. Our company is big and has been a loyal client for years. This left me extremely disappointed. Please retrain the front desk in proper customer service. Their approach felt rude and unprofessional. I hope management takes action so this doesn't happen to other guests.

The staff are welcoming and accommodating, and the hotel is close to the cathedral, public market, banks, restaurants, and other places. A cozy spot in the heart of Ozamiz City.
