Miles YCE Bamboo House

This was the worst room we’ve stayed in Panglao. There were cockroaches everywhere, the trash cans still had rubbish from previous guests, and the fridge still contained an empty milk bottle they’d left behind. The room wasn’t ready when we arrived, so we checked in 34 minutes late. The staff were disrespectful and didn’t apologize for the delay or for the power interruption that happened at night. There were only two staff members, no proper front office to welcome guests, and they seemed short-staffed. The kitchen and pool were very dirty, some rooms had no mirrors, and the internet was so slow that there was no connection inside our room. When we checked out at noon, the staff member was busy eating in the kitchen and didn’t even check the rooms before we left. At breakfast in the function hall, two guests came in and ate the food we’d preheated from the previous night’s birthday party. It was lechon paksiw, shrimp, beefsteak, and other food that obviously wasn’t resort breakfast. The male staff member saw them but didn’t approach them or explain that it wasn’t their food. Poor accommodation overall.

The rooms are affordable, but some things need upgrading. Mosquitoes get inside, the floors wobble, and the TV doesn’t work unless you use a USB. Some rooms look more updated, so I can’t say they’re all the same. Ms. Rena was approachable and handled requests, and the pool was clean and open for swimming any time.

For the price and the state of the rooms, this is a definite no for me. The rooms weren’t properly cleaned, and the shower’s hot water was only a little warmer than cold. It’s far too expensive for what you get. I’d rather stay somewhere else and pay a small amount extra for a better room. I also have no idea where the perfect scores came from, but I suspect the reviews are rigged.

I stayed at Miles Bamboo two years ago, and the difference now is huge. It seems like the resort has had a full overhaul and is under new management. The staff are friendlier, and everything, including the towels, was crystal clean. They even upgraded me from a regular room to a service apartment. Everyone was so accommodating and gave me VIP treatment. Thanks, Miles Bamboo House Resort. I’ll definitely recommend it to friends and come back on my next visit.
