Manila International Youth Hostel

The whole building has been booked by our dear Chinese friends, so this hostel is full for 6 months. Don’t go there for the next 6 months, (09.05.2018). There’s another hostel nearby called Villa Carolina Townhouse, with a Fan room for 500pesos.

The bathroom flooded because the toilet's water supply was broken, and there was no drain by the toilet. We also had no hot water. The room TV had no channels available, and WiFi only worked in the lobby. The AC in our female colleagues' room wasn't working properly.

For $7 a night, The Manila International Youth Hostel is a solid option when you're traveling on a tight budget. It has individual rooms, parking inside the lot, and breakfast and dinner for sale, plus WiFi. The location is convenient for getting around, and the local market is an easy walk for fruit, vegetables, fish, and other things. It also felt very safe. If you want to stretch your MULA, I'd say it's a good place to stay.

I would still recommend this as a good hostel for Chinese nationals. The last time I checked in, we were made very welcome, but today we found out it had been bought by Chinese nationals and was now exclusive to Chinese nationals. It was frustrating that the guard wouldn't tell us directly and just said it was fully booked. I found out that wasn't true after speaking Mandarin. There were plenty of rooms, just not for us Filipinos.
