Midas Hotel & Casino

The pastries I bought from the hotel were moldy. They were individually wrapped in a box, so I couldn't check them there, and I attached a video. That was one more letdown during a stay I was glad I'd booked for only one night. I had thought about extending, but won't stay here again. I would still return specifically for Yanagi restaurant. The buffet was just okay and didn't justify the price. Choices were limited, and dishes repeated through the day and from the previous day across the breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets I attended. I expected more from Midas Café after enjoying the merienda buffet at Sunset Lounge so much. For dinner, I should have chosen the Yanagi buffet. The deluxe room looked noticeably aged. The air conditioning only went down to 20°C, which felt too warm for the Philippine climate, and even at 5'1" I found the small bathtub cramped. There was only one toiletries set for two of us. I didn't fully enjoy the stay; it was one disappointment after another and a waste.

I've stayed here several times over the years, and it used to be decent. The service has declined a lot. On this visit, the internet was out for four hours, with no apology or explanation. We also had no convenience stores nearby, so I asked for an extra complimentary bottle of water and got a cold refusal. The front desk service didn't deserve even one star. Key card problems sent me between my room and the desk three times, and nobody apologized. Staff had intimidating expressions and a "So what?" attitude even when the hotel was clearly at fault. To me, service starts with a welcoming attitude and basic manners. I hope they make much-needed improvements for the hotel's future and other travelers' comfort.

There are some clear maintenance issues: the safe didn't work, the bathroom door felt worn and old, and the room lighting had only one tone. It would be nice to have bright white and dim yellow options. The sockets also felt outdated; modern ones with USB and Type-C charging would be better. I'd prefer liquid toiletries in a large dispenser to reduce plastic containers. The staff were the highlight. The dog guard was friendly but disciplined, greeting guests while keeping watch. Security guards were professional, attentive, and ready to help without intruding. The room boy was courteous and efficient, kept my room clean, and handled requests quickly with a smile. The receptionist was warm and approachable, check-in was smooth, and she offered helpful suggestions kindly. Breakfast had a good selection of Filipino food. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the day couch was a nice place to lounge or relax with extra space. The people and bed made the stay memorable, though the facilities need updating to match the service. On our checkout day, Mr. Efren BATA Reyes checked out too. Yes, he also stayed in Midas 🥰 the greatest of all time, the living legend and the magician 🥰

This place wasn't good for a family with kids. There were no kid-friendly facilities, and it was far from convenience stores and restaurants. The breakfast buffet was poor, and the dusty carpet made the room feel unclean. We didn't ask for room cleaning, but we did ask housekeeping to refill the shampoo and soap, and they never did before checkout. Cleanliness and service fell short of what we expected.
