Astoria Plaza

I’m still here, checked in for 16 days and 15 nights, and the experience has been wonderful from day one. Security, front desk, housekeeping, and even the trainees have all been warm, helpful, and professional. Even Ate in the elevator is so kind and welcoming. The service is amazing, better than at hotels I’ve stayed in, including the Sheraton in Hawaii and New York. What I appreciate most is how hard everyone tries to help when you ask nicely, even if they don’t have exactly what you need. That effort makes a huge difference. Everyone deserves recognition, and honestly, raises for treating guests so well. It feels like a luxury hotel without the expensive price. Thank you for making the stay special. I can’t recommend this place enough. I’ll definitely return on future trips and tell all my friends abroad about it. 😊 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

For a 3-day family and friends staycation, this place worked well for relaxing and staying in. The rooms are spacious, with widescreen TVs that were perfect for movie marathons. Wi-Fi was strong with no issue working online, and guest parking was free. It’s also within walking distance of restaurants, convenience stores, and malls. The staff were very friendly. The pools were okay, and my friends used them. There’s a good fitness gym, though it needs more cleaning. I didn’t try the food they serve, since we mostly cooked or ordered through Grab food. I’m satisfied with the stay.

The suites had enough equipment for our group and could have accommodated even more guests. We also had a good view of the city. Staff were ready to help even in the middle of the night. Thanks to Ms. Selena for making sure our family got proper rest and a sumptuous breakfast, and for looking after us through checkout. We celebrated my girlfriend’s special day with our family, and the experience exceeded what we expected. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of metro, so anything we needed beyond what was provided was close by. Worth every penny, and we’re taking home great memories.

I want to give future guests an honest picture while being fair to the staff and management. We’ve visited Astoria Plaza regularly for a few years, and our stays have been a mix of satisfying and disappointing. We live in Pasig, so it’s one of the nearest hotels for us. There are things they do well. Reception staff were polite and accommodating, check-in was smooth, and we were able to get into our room before the standard check-in time. The room was clean and cool when we arrived, a welcome break from the summer heat. The housekeeper we met was approachable and quickly brought standard hangers and extra floor towels. Wi-Fi worked well throughout, with no dead spots. The gym has limited equipment, but it did the job. The pool is shaded by nearby tall buildings, which made it easier to swim without worrying about sunburn. This visit, though, the chlorine smell was surprisingly strong. During our first few visits it was barely noticeable, almost as if no chlorine had been added, and we’d praised Astoria Plaza for that. Service knowledge was inconsistent. We were passed between different staff just to get simple questions answered. Breakfast also disappointed us, as the food rarely suited our taste. The chicken looked reheated, and the bacon was unevenly cooked, with some pieces crispy and others undercooked. The pink lychee lemonade was good at first, but after a few glasses tasted watered down, as if it wasn’t made with the full juice recipe. The ube kutsinta was rough in texture, and yema was its only good part because we couldn’t taste the ube. Pichi-pichi was too sweet, even with all the cheese on it. Arroz caldo and chicken macaroni soup stayed bland even after we added condiments. Some cafe staff gave us judging looks when we arrived before breakfast, around 5:50am, though breakfast starts at 6:00. We came early to make more of our stay, with time for swimming, the gym, and some rest before checkout. We know how to wait and follow the usual procedure. The lifeguard was also inconsistent about who could dive or jump into the pool. Checkout took a long time because we waited for reception to confirm whether anything was missing from the room. On an earlier visit, housekeeping shouted at my aunt about missing hand towels, even though we’d left them all there. The housekeeper hadn’t taken time to look, and they were later found inside a cabinet. She never apologized to my aunt. It was embarrassing, but we still gave Astoria Plaza a chance to redeem its reputation. This time, the value didn’t fully match what we paid. Comparing our stays at Astoria Plaza with Astoria Current in Boracay, we’d almost rather book a flight to Boracay to get the kind of proper staff accommodation we experienced at Astoria Current. Astoria Plaza has potential, but some things need work to justify the price and advertised expectations. I’m sharing this as realistic feedback for management and future guests, not to attack the business. Would I return? Maybe, maybe not, depending on what improves and what someone wants from a stay.
