Coconut Inn

We planned to stay a week at Coconut Inn, but ended up spending a wonderful two weeks. The hosts were kind and helpful, including arranging transport to and from the airport. They really care about making guests comfortable. Our room was large, clean, and air-conditioned, and breakfast was tasty and well priced. I’ll miss being greeted with a smile each morning, and those good pancakes. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, a place where we could relax and feel safe.

The owner, Markus, was really friendly and we felt welcome. Coconut Inn is calm, safe, and clean, with a private balcony for every room. Breakfast was good and very affordable. We stayed five nights and enjoyed it. If you want to dive during your stay, Markus is also a certified Diving Instructor and offers courses in English and German. Just reach out to him.

The terrace is a nice spot to watch the sunset, and I liked being somewhere quieter, away from the busy tourist area but still only a 10-12 minute walk away. Farm animal sounds didn’t bother me. My room was spacious and very clean, with good AC and Wi-Fi, soap, shampoo, towels, a hairdryer, and a kettle. Free drinking water, instant coffee, and tea were available. Breakfast was good and cheap, and I could eat on the terrace or in the outdoor dining area. There’s motorbike parking and helpful staff. They can arrange diving or canyoneering tours, motorbike rental, and transport, though I didn’t use any of those. The shower pressure wasn’t great and it didn’t drain well because of the floor slope, but at least it’s in a separate area so the whole washroom floor stays dry. The road just outside the property is in very bad shape, though the bad stretch is short. It might make you hesitate to ride a motorbike at night if you’re not fully confident. I’d stay here again. Really good value for the inexpensive price.

The setting was gorgeous, with lovely views each morning and a real feel for everyday life in the Philippines. The mother, daughter, and dog made us feel very welcome, and breakfast was great. Getting there takes a little effort because the road is bumpy, but waking up in such a beautiful spot was a treat. I’d happily recommend it.
