Encenada has affordable, good food, and the white sand beach there was a rare find in Puerto galera. I went with a co-worker, and we found the beach area lovely and secluded. That night we saw beautiful blue glowing fish. After one night at Encenada beach resort, we moved to another resort farther from Encanada, where the sand was black and reminded me of Kuta beach in Bali. I lost the pictures of that other beach, but the trip with friends was an experience. Seeing pitch-black and white sand beaches on the same trip felt like visiting two different countries at different times, all in the same place.

We had a ball at Ensanada resort back in 1987. The food was great, and there was a nice sandy beach for swimming or water sports. I think our hosts were Ken/Liz. It was delightful.

The resort itself is nice, though a little old, and the beach is okay. Just know what you're looking for if you choose Encenada, since it's outside Puerto Galera's party zone. My main complaint was the restaurant food, which I found too expensive for its quality.

The room had air conditioning, but they pressured us to turn it off when we weren't using it. That wasn't our preference, especially for the price we paid. The location is okay, though, like many resorts here, there are no facilities beyond what they provide. This place did have a pool table and Red Horse, which is good enough for most people.

If you want a quiet beach for swimming, Encenada Beach Resort is one of the best places to visit in Puerto Galera. I loved it there, and the locals were helpful and welcoming. Go visit them!
