The room itself was clean, with fresh sheets, air-con, and a hot shower. After 3 months of traveling, that felt like a relief. Then came the noise: a dance music club next door played from 9pm to 2am, far too loud. We complained and were moved to a quieter room, though I wondered why we hadn’t been given it in the first place. After that awful night, staff woke us by being very loud while playing with their whining puppy. At 9am they started burning rubbish and cleaning the yard outside our window. It was the worst night’s sleep I’d had in 3 months.

The room was okay, but the atmosphere felt kind of creepy. Then the power went out at 3am, and I was ready to run out of the room.
