Atremaru Jungle Retreat

After the payment went through, they sent me a WhatsApp message about their policy, even though it wasn’t in the booking information. We spent the first night in a family room because there wasn’t a better room available. It was terrible, with a tiny toilet, spiders everywhere, and all the problems I mentioned at the start. The so-called better room looked okay at first but turned out much worse. Ants kept biting us all night, and there were other bugs and spiders too. We woke at 2 a.m. and spent an hour packing, checking our things were clean, then waited for reception to arrive. We hadn’t brought food or drink into the room. When we lifted the mattress, we found spider webs and lots of ants. It seemed the bed area wasn’t being cleaned and the linens weren’t being changed. The towels were dry and felt years old. There was no AC, no hot water, and the shower pressure was very low. The food was bad. The restaurant was cheap, but dishes were overcooked or undercooked. The waiters seemed scared of us, and we could barely understand them. This wasn’t what we expected from the reviews and Booking’s 8.6 rating. It’s not how we wanted to end our honeymoon.

A spacious villa with a covered balcony, very friendly staff, and a perfect jungle setting for anyone who loves nature. We saw monkeys, a snake, birds, and butterflies, and there’s a jungle path right on the property. The restaurant has delicious food and good drinks. I’d come back if I get the chance to return to Palawan.

We had a great snorkelling day on a private boat, with our own chef making lunch. The coral was beautiful, and we saw giant clams and lots of fish. The receptionist was very helpful and arranged that trip for the next day, plus a firefly tour for our first evening. Private cars and transfers also made our excursions seamless. There’s a lovely jungle walk on the property, easy for our family to manage and a real treat with young children. The rainwater pool was excellent, and the restaurant was really good. I had one of my favourite meals in the Philippines here. Thank you!

The caring, kind staff made us feel truly welcome and did their best to make the stay a highlight of our travels. The resort design is striking, and natural beauty surrounds you.
