Blue Palawan Beach Club

The last 400 metres of the drive from the road to the resort are a bit bumpy. We didn’t go to the adjoining beach because the water stays too shallow for quite a distance from shore. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There’s an open restaurant beside the pool and a bar on the other side. The rooms are cottages with glass sliding doors, secured from inside with a button and outside with a key. Each one has two queen beds, two basins outside the bathroom, and two showers in the bathroom.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the food was really good. The pool was nice, too. The place felt more rustic than I expected, and the rooms need updating. The air conditioning wasn’t doing much, so it was usually cooler outside than in the room. The door lock didn’t seem very secure. Dogs barking in the early hours disturbed my sleep. It was hard to get change, and swimming in the beach water wasn’t possible.

We only stopped for lunch, but the staff were so lovely and the customer service was excellent. My friend and I shared the chicken kebab meal and bacon and cheese pizza, and both were absolutely delicious. We also tried their peanut-flavoured cake for dessert. I forgot what it was called, but it was mouth-watering, probably the best cake I’ve had in a long time.

The cabins are extraordinarily beautiful, and it’s a nice place to unwind. The cocktail bar is decently decorated, though it needs a real bartender who can make authentic alcoholic drinks. The restaurant has a good menu, but an experienced chef would improve it. I’d also suggest adding a place to swim at the beach. Just a few touches would make a difference.
