I stayed four nights in an 8-bed dorm, and the price was very reasonable. The location worked well, with nice cafes and other facilities within walking distance. They also kept my luggage for a week for free. The staff are wonderful. Power and the shower weren't working all the time, and dogs barking made some nights a bit loud, but it wasn't a problem for me. There were buckets of water to wash with, and earplugs blocked the noise.

The staff at check-in were very friendly, but I wouldn't recommend these rooms. I was told I'd been "upgraded" to a room in another place, five minutes away on foot. I didn't mind the change, but the room smelled awful. The bed was a thin foam mattress over a wood board, which I could feel when lying down. The pillows and tiger print blanket looked and smelled dirty. The washroom was small, had no hot water, and, most frustratingly, no toilet paper.

The place is neat and nice, with all the essentials, including a bidet. The owners are very helpful, generous, and thoughtful. For the service and homestay, what you pay is definitely sulit (Filipino term for worthy). :)

UPDATE: 06/12/2022 Fanta Lodge has been closed and non-operational since 2020. DO NOT BOOK ONLINE (Agoda/Booking.com etc.) I was glad to find a small, neat place near where the fun starts at night. The owner's wife and daughter were very friendly and polite.

The owners were so kind, and you really get good value for your money here. It doesn’t have all the amenities of a five-star hotel, but the place feels cozy and homey, which I loved. The cute cat and feisty dog were a fun bonus 🤣
