Palawan Uno Hotel

The room and bathroom were okay, but the rest of the stay was really unpleasant. When we came in, the staff weren't friendly and it felt awkward. We had booked one room with two double beds online, but they charged another 800 pesos for our 12-year-old daughter. We were told the fee applied whether or not we took an extra bed, and we did take one. The rules felt stricter than at five-star hotels. The safe didn't work, and a bathroom light blew out. The restaurant was closed when we went for dinner, the pool was disgustingly dirty, and the elevator was under maintenance. There weren't any amenities we could use. My husband drinks and wanted some ice, but they didn't have any. I slept in the extra single bed and started itching all over around 11 p.m. It lasted until about 1 or 2 a.m. I was exhausted, so I moved to my husband's bed and felt a little better there. I called reception to complain, but they did nothing. I wouldn't recommend this place after such a bad experience. Please avoid it.

A decent, usable pool and free airport transfers were nice to have. The hotel is also conveniently close to the airport, McDonald's, laundry, and other local spots in Puerto Princesa.

Parking was a big help since we rented a car to explore Puerto Princesa. I also liked the quiet little nook by the garden, and the clean pool and other facilities were better than at most three-star hotels I've stayed in. The staff were excellent, quick to help, and very accommodating. They offer airport service too, just give them your schedule ahead of time so they can arrange it. The rooms and bathroom were very clean. Some appliances, like the hair dryer, are yellowed and show the hotel's age, but they still work. Staff said room renovations are coming soon, so hopefully they're already dealing with that. Good value for the money. I'd consider staying again when I visit Palawan.

The staff were polite, but cleanliness in the rooms needs serious attention. I barely slept because the bed made me itch all night, as if the sheets hadn't been cleaned properly or had something in them. The air conditioner was dusty and had a musty smell. I got sick the next day, probably from breathing that air all night. The hotel looks decent from outside, so I expected better upkeep. I wouldn't stay again unless their housekeeping and maintenance improve a lot.
