Fersal Hotel

I stayed 6 days and was comfortable. The room was clean, spacious, and good, though the WiFi needs work. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The location worked especially well for my concert at Araneta coliseum, about a 10-11 minute walk away, with lots of nearby food choices at different prices. Breakfast came with the reservation and had 4-5 simple options. It was filling, and the hotel felt like a safe, clean place for a day or two on a budget. Check-in was seamless, receptionists were accommodating, and the 24hrs security was helpful too. The room was old but straightforward, with basic amenities, free toiletries and room sleepers. There was no bidet, and the internet connection wasn’t reliable.

It was a fair stay, and I’d recommend it for a night if you need somewhere to rest, especially near government offices and other important spots in Cubao. Breakfast was included in my booking, served on the 2nd floor, and there were 4 options, including canned spanish sardines. The food was convenient, and we even got freebies at checkout. Service was okay. The bed and pillows were decent, though not a 10/10 for comfort. The room had a kettle, mini fridge, phone for reception, slippers, toiletries and towels, hot and cold bath, working a/c, and a pitcher to refill from the water gallon in the hallway. But check-in had a hiccup: the key cards wouldn’t open our door, and we had to return to reception for help. We weren’t escorted, and were moved to another room of the same type that hadn’t been prepared, with lights and a/c still off. Noise from jeepneys and buses on the busy road outside is noticeable, though after a tiring day it became tolerable. The bedsheet could be thicker. The place looks old and could use repainting or renovation. Hallway and room lighting was dull too. The lavatory and wc were tiny, likely uncomfortable for taller or bigger-built people. There were also strands of hair in the room and restroom. The basic TV had an eye sore of a picture because of weak antenna signal. They should upgrade to SmartTVs with Netflix, Youtube and other streaming apps, and improve the slow wifi. The outside a/c unit was ancient, had no remote and needed manual operation. Nearby airbnb places are upgrading, and the hotel will lose out if it doesn’t keep up. It makes me wonder when management last visited or inspected different Fersal Hotel branches to find improvements.

The location is ideal for a Cubao concert, with the bus center and malls just a few meters away. Receptionists, the guard, and other staff were all very accommodating. I traveled solo and chose the wrong room, but it was spacious, with two clean single beds and a bathroom. The bathroom was small, though that didn’t bother me on my own. There was no blower. The old aircon got sooo cold at night. The TV had cable, but the signal wasn’t very good.
