The setting was peaceful and beautiful, and the infinity pool view over the ocean was stunning. I could have kept swimming and looking out at the water. At night, a swim with a beer or cocktail felt close to heaven. There’s access to the sea for snorkeling, though it’s rocky and there’s no beach; the water is so clear that it’s still wonderful for snorkeling. The restaurant meals were delicious, generously portioned and fairly priced. Shayra and her team were sweet, friendly and professional. They made me feel at home, were accommodating, and respected guests’ privacy. The rooms were spacious and immaculate without feeling clinical. My bed was comfortable, the WiFi worked well both in the room and around the grounds, and the shower had hot water and strong pressure. With glass walls looking onto the lush garden, it felt like showering in the jungle without insects. It was probably the quietest, most peaceful place I stayed during five weeks exploring The Philippines. I couldn’t hear traffic or karaoke late at night or early in the morning, which was such a treat. The resort was a wonderful way to end my trip, especially after staying in everything from budget hotels and hostels to boutique Airbnb’s and luxury beach resorts. I can appreciate each for what it offers and what it costs. Homa Resort is about a 20-minute drive from the ferry port in Consuelo, and Santiago Beach, one of the best beaches on Camotes Island, is around a 15-20 minute walk away. There are also a few restaurants and bars at Santiago Beach. I’d love to come back with friends and family.
The view is even better in person than the online photos suggest: ocean stretching across the horizon, framed by coconut and banana trees and bright pink flowers. I kept sending pictures home. Most mornings I sat with my laptop to catch up on email, then returned around meals, after activities, and while using the pool or getting a massage. It’s easily the quietest place I’ve been in the Philippines. No loud motorcycles, roosters, barking dogs or neighborhood karaoke, just birds. There are only a few guestrooms, so it never feels crowded, and the calm is exactly what I picture when I’m working hard and dreaming of a relaxing vacation. The zero-edge pool and jacuzzi both look out over the ocean. You can get into the sea to swim and explore, but there’s no white sand beach. I preferred the pool, where I could enjoy the view without worrying about seaweed or sharp rocks under the water, and the pool is always at high tide. The food was good, portions were huge and prices were low. With so few rooms, the service felt personal and focused on making guests happy rather than on efficiency or profit. I plan to stay here again.
We had a wonderful time here and will definitely come back. The property was serene and beautiful, very instagramable, with a stunning infinity pool and a really nice beach where we went snorkeling. Our room was spacious, with very comfortable beds. The food was great, inexpensive, and served in big portions. The staff were very polite.
The resort sits in a gorgeous location and felt quieter than many others. Mitzi and the rest of the staff were helpful and very friendly. Our room was a little dark because every window had colored glass instead of clear.
HOMA Resort had a welcoming, homey feel, and we had a very enjoyable stay. The owner and staff were accommodating, responded quickly when we asked for things, and even took us around the island. The facility was quite new, as the hotel had reopened recently. We found Facebook to be the best way to contact them. Payment was cash at the time. To reach Camotes Island, we took a ferry from Danao port. It took us an hour from Cebu airport to Danao port, then around 2-3 hours by ferry. Santiago Bay, a large beach, is nearby and a 10-15 minute walk away. They provide basics like towels, soap, toothbrushes and 3-in-1 shampoo, but no hairdryer, so you may want to bring one. Other essentials are sold at a small shop nearby. Karaoke, massage, manicure and pedicure are available on request, and the hotel serves local food. Great experience ☺️
