Hagnaya Beach Resort and Restaurant

The staff made this stay worth the price. Their guard came to get me at the port at 12pm when I was stranded, then they took me back the next morning and reserved a ferry ticket for me. Such kind people. It’s in a handy spot if you need to catch a ferry early the next day. The resort itself isn’t fancy if you don’t use its facilities, so it felt a little pricey. Still, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the linen was very soft.

The best part was the staff. Everyone I met was hardworking, welcoming, and hospitable. The property itself is in rough shape, though. The rooms feel worn out, and much of the large grounds are an active construction zone after what seems to have been major earthquake damage. It must have been a nice resort before that, with what looked like plenty of amenities, but there are no pools and no beach area now. There’s no beach at this “beach resort.” The only restaurant is an open-air patio, so keep an eye on your ankles if mosquitoes usually bite you. I don’t often write reviews like this, but I wanted people to know what the property is currently like.

The food and accommodation were good, and we had a really enjoyable stay. There’s a nice pool for a getaway, plus a lovely beach you can reach nearby.

The resort is being refurbished at the moment, though most facilities are still available. Its two big, beautiful pools should keep guests happy. My wife and I stayed from 31 December to 02 January and had a lovely time. When we’re back in the north of Cebu Island, we’ll stay here again. I’d recommend it to any kind of traveller.
