Almont Beach Resort

Check-in went smoothly and the front desk staff were professional, but my restaurant visit was a very disappointing experience. I arrived alone around 11:00 AM and the kitchen staff told me to take a table. Two hours later, I still hadn’t been given a menu or even a glass of service water. I kept asking to order and was told, “wait, ma’am,” while groups who arrived after me got quick attention and hospitality. I felt like solo travelers were treated as a low priority. Sometimes staff stared at me in a way that made me feel judged and unwelcome, like my being there alone wasn’t worth their time. The lack of basic hospitality really saddened me. I hope management trains the restaurant team to show solo guests the same respect and service as big groups. Going alone is a bad idea right now if you expect to be served.

I was the only customer in the restaurant, but the waiter still wasn’t attentive. I had to get my salad from the cooks’ counter myself, then leave my table 45 minutes after ordering lobster to find him. That’s when I learned he’d forgotten to place the order with the chef. On top of that, he raised the price from 800 pesos to 3000 pesos. The service was horrible.

I should never have come. The room had a wall right in front of its window, so it stayed dark during the day. It seemed like all the deluxe rooms were like that, while sea view rooms cost much more. There was no seating area, and the furniture was chipped and worn. The bathroom was in bad shape too, with filthy tiles, old rusty taps, shower and hose, a broken shower head, a cracked sink, and a dirty old rusty mirror. There were holes in the entrance door, missing grout in the floor tiles, and terrible soundproofing between rooms. The pool area doesn’t have the white sun beds or chairs shown in the lovely Agoda and Booking photos, so there’s nowhere to sunbathe around it. They also say you can’t swim in the sea from the hotel’s private beach. My stay was very disappointing.

It’s an older hotel with some updates, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, and the pool is great. There’s a nice little beach too. The building has about 5 levels, steep stairs, and no elevators, so it’s not wheelchair compatible.
