Casa Alegria Bed And Breakfast Tagaytay by Cocotel

The nicest parts of our stay at Casa Alegria in Tagaytay were the beautiful view of Taal Lake and the pool area. There were still several disappointments, especially with cleanliness and the room listing. We booked through Agoda after seeing a pool view in the photos. On arrival, staff said our booked room didn’t actually have that view, explaining that only the first photo showed the pool and the other room photos did not. It felt misleading, and they said this had already happened a second time. If so, the photos should have been updated to avoid confusing future guests. The bathroom shower drain was clogged, so water pooled while we bathed. There were water marks on the fixtures, yellowing around some tiles, and even the water smelled like a canal. The jacuzzi looked a little dirty too. I’m not sure whether its water is cleaned or replaced daily, but when people were using it, it didn’t look well maintained.

The location, atmosphere, and view were beautiful and relaxing, and the scenery and amenities were nice. Still, the service could be better. There was a breakfast menu, but only one option was available. The internet also dropped out at times when we used the Wi-Fi, so I relied on mobile data, which had a poor connection too. The location and views were great, and the staff were friendly and helped us with parking, though parking itself wasn’t ideal. There were lots of spiders outside among the plants and trees. They didn’t bother me, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to someone who hates spiders. We had the large family room, and it needed a thorough cleaning. Walking barefoot left our feet dirty. The windows were plentiful but hard to open, and the lighting was a little odd: cozy, yet too dim at night, enough that the dirt was easy to miss.

Taal Lake looks stunning from here. The drive up is steep and can feel a little risky, but the visit is worth it. Just be sure you have a four-wheel vehicle.
