Avant Apartments at the Fort Apart-Hotel

The unit was well maintained, but the roaches were a real problem. Every time I came back, I was anxious about how many I’d run into. They should deal with the bugs before letting guests stay.

This was our third staycation, and it wasn’t a good experience this time. We won’t use them for our next stay. We were in the same condo as our first visit, but there were lots of bugs in the closet and bathroom. We told the host a few days in, thinking they might go away after we got rid of a few. They didn’t. She offered a solution, but the bugs shouldn’t have been there in the first place. We didn’t eat or cook in the room, were out during the day, and came back late afternoon just to freshen up before going out to dinner. One tenant or owner took our laundry bag even though it had a receipt with our information on it. We waited 45 minutes in the lobby for staff to get it back. The lobby sometimes smelled like a toilet, and only one elevator was working for tenants and owners. One was being used as a service elevator and another was under maintenance, so we had to wait a few minutes or adjust our schedule to avoid being late. There was also a “guest car,” as the guard called it, that kept moving until it almost hit me as we walked toward the front entrance. I saw the woman in the front seat laughing with the driver. I complained to the security guard right away, but he let the car go. I then reported it at the front desk and was told to file a complaint at the admin office on the second floor. Our schedule was full, so as instructed, I left a complaint letter with my cell number and email. We’d checked out by the time I wrote this, and nobody had contacted me. That felt bad, and I feel more secure crossing BGC streets than using their driveway. I’m taking down my previous 5-star rating and photos and giving 2 stars this time for the location.

I stayed in 6K, and the location made it a great place to stay. The host was the best, and the room had everything: WiFi, Netflix, air conditioning, an iron, blow-dryer, straighteners, washer and dryer, oven, stove, cutlery, plates, and more. I’ll definitely book this particular room again if I return to the Philippines.

I was surprised by how much better the place was compared with my last stay. I’ll definitely be back this summer.
