The Luxe Residences

A five-minute walk gets you to Forbes Town or High Street Shopping, and parking inside the building feels safe and secure. Every unit was clean, updated, and spacious. Great service, a great location, and wonderful staff. One of the best condo hotels in BGC.

I stayed and worked here for over two years. The design and ambiance were alright, and having a TV and washing machine was useful. The gym is small but good enough, though I wish it had a bench press and pull-up bar. There's a pool beside it, but I'm not sure how often it's cleaned. The shower and toilet room by the gym and pool could be bigger. There's nowhere inside to put your things while showering, so you have to leave them outside unattended. There's a sauna, but I never tried it. Security could be improved. Once, water dripped from the ceiling above the kitchen, and another time the ceiling collapsed in one of the toilets. I still think it's a good option for a short stay.

The place is nice, but hygiene was disappointing. There were flies in our unit, and the fire exit had become a smelly garbage collection area. Elevator 1 also shakes and rattles whenever it's about to stop.

BGC was a really convenient base, and the unit was spacious and well kept. The ACs were noisy and the water pressure low, though both were manageable. We booked six nights through Kristoffer on Airbnb, and he was quick to respond and easy to deal with. The Luxe website makes the building look like furnished apartments, with stays from two weeks to a year or more, but we only booked through Airbnb. I'm not sure whether Kristoffer rents particular units or works with Luxe on vacant ones, so other units may vary. We were short on towels, toilet paper, and shampoo at check-in; one quick message to Kristoffer sorted it out. The front desk was also pretty responsive when we needed extra linens and towels, and help getting the washing machine working. Service isn't at hotel level, which makes sense since it's not a hotel, but there's more support than I usually expect from Airbnb. I'd stay again if I had the chance.
