Casa Marita Vigan

The door was a constant hassle throughout our stay. It seemed to be made for a key card, but that wasn't working, so we were given a physical key that was difficult to use. The air conditioner also struggled to cool the room. The bed had just one sheet over it, and the foam underneath looked unpleasant in the photos. Towels were very old and rough, and we only had one roll of tissue for the whole stay, though luckily we'd brought more. Both the shower drain and sink drain were clogged, so shower water sat around for minutes, and the bathroom itself was dirty and very outdated. I understand the building may be old, but we still expected a decent room. At check-in, the receptionist offered us the breakfast buffet, then tour packages. We declined both politely because we were short on time, leaving early the next morning and already having our activities planned and booked. After we turned down the offers, she became cold, wouldn't make eye contact, and had someone else take us to our room. We left unhappy and won't stay here again.

The location made getting to tourist spots, nearby businesses, and public transportation easy. We also enjoyed the morning buffet, especially the authentic Vigan food included. The whole place was clean, and our room was spacious and clean as well. Booking through checkout was a smooth process, the hotel had Wi-Fi, and the service was good. We loved our stay.

The building looks gorgeous and sits right in the heart of the city, which could make it one of the best places to stay if not for a couple of issues. The towels smelled bad, and each replacement batch still had the same off smell. I hope they'll replace them with newer bath towels. There are three floors and no elevator, so consider that if you're traveling with seniors or people with disabilities.

We found it a home away from home during our family's time in Vigan. The atmosphere was relaxed and homey, and breakfast came from an open buffet. Staff were friendly and made sure we were well looked after. The rooms were clean, spacious, and had complete amenities, and the price felt worthwhile. It's also close to Vigan City's tourist landmarks.
