Thalatta Resort

I’m adding this because the owner replied arrogantly to my review. I’ve included images in case that reply gets removed. As I said before, I’m the dad, and I ordered a hamburger for 480 php, not the kids meal. The owner should understand what a customer actually experienced before replying. The burger was awful and probably the worst value for money I’ve had in the Philippines, where I’ve lived for 7 years. Instead of dismissing my complaint and asking me to remove the review (!!), the owner could look at the other recent reviews also complaining about the food. Is that a coincidence? My daughters said the food was much better the last time they came, but terrible this time. They were excited to eat here with me, and I hated the food too. They said the place was beautiful, but the food was disgusting and they ate only one bite. We used to live in the Philippines and hadn’t been here for 2 years, though they still thought the place was very nice. Thalatta used to arguably have the best food south of Dumaguete. The old chef seems to be gone, and it looks like there are new owners now. The place still looks great, but I paid 480 pesos for a dry, tiny, tasteless burger with no side. I can only hope I avoid food poisoning. There are lots of nice places to eat along the ocean south of Dumaguete. Quality around here is generally good, with so many tourists and plenty of competition. Sadly, this place no longer comes close to its competitors. I’ve had better burgers at Filipino fast food places for one fifth the price. One more thing: at 1.30 pm, I tried to order chicken with pepper sauce, but they said they hadn’t been to the market to shop yet.

The food was much better a few years ago!! They don’t actually have a kids’ menu. They were supposed to replace the cordon Bleu with fries, but it came covered in sauce, with salad, and with fries that were too oily and soft. You can see the adult menus in the pictures and judge for yourself ... 😪

It’s peaceful and not crowded here, and we love the resort. The food is great for the price, and the staff are very friendly and courteous.

The snorkeling right in front of the resort was fantastic. We saw a great variety of sea life, including turtles just offshore. The grounds are immaculate, and everyone is super friendly. Rooms have everything you need, though the shower pressure is a bit low. Food was good too. A motorbike is useful for getting to local attractions.
