Replica Manor

The room was very cheap, but the air conditioner was so loud it sounded like a lawnmower, and red ants were all over the bathroom. We asked to move rooms. The staff laughed and said we’d been put in the noisy aircon room, but the property was full. They told us to request a refund through the third-party booking site, and we’re still trying to sort that out. In the end, we left and booked somewhere else. We wish we’d stayed at Isla Inn the whole time, as it was lovely.

The staff were helpful when we left: they cleaned the room midway through the week and arranged transport to the port. That was a saving grace, because much of the stay was frustrating. When we arrived, two people were sitting on the bench outside our room. They didn’t move until I asked if they worked there. The bathroom smelled awful. Reception sprayed something they called air freshener, but the stink returned by evening. When I asked again, they handed me scented bug spray. Using it to cover the smell left us struggling to breathe, so we opened the windows. Even with the mosquito nets shut, spiders and geckos got in through holes in them. I insisted on changing rooms because the first one was too bad to stay in. They said there were no rooms available, but after I threatened to seek a refund and leave, they found us another room for that night and a different one for the rest of the week. The second room still smelled, though less, and the odor eventually went away. It was tiny, with no closet, so it was hard for us as a couple to keep our things organized. Water pressure was low at the shower and every tap, and the shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold. At night, dogs and roosters howled and made sleep nearly impossible without headphones. The hotel also let four people rent the so-called restaurant for loud karaoke from 7 until after 10 one night. The restaurant didn’t seem to open for breakfast, either.

I’ve been returning to Replica Manor since 2018, and the quality has stayed good for a reasonable price. On my latest visit at the end of February, I booked one of the new apartments across the road. They have a kitchen and dining table, separate bedroom, and bathroom. The floor and some wall tiles look very nice, and the apartments can fit a family. They’re quiet, with a clean access road and parking inside the compound. There’s a luxury residential property on the left and another resort on the right. It’s peaceful and ideal for resting. It’s a good base for exploring the island, and Dumanhog’s two-kilometer white sand beach is about 150 meters away via a small path. You can swim, snorkel, or dive there. Siquijor town’s facilities are about two kilometers away, and I enjoy Filipino barbecue and other dishes along the seafront boulevard. I’ll keep coming back to Replica Manor. I’ve visited friends at other hotels, but I haven’t seen another at this price and location with clean rooms, good Wi-Fi, a safe setting, and quiet neighbors. Room 2 was good, and the service was good too. Next time, I hope the air conditioning can be improved so it reaches every room. The Wi-Fi was very weak, and I’d like it to be good enough for online games.
