The security deposit was a concern for me, so be careful before paying it, since getting it back may be difficult. I had a very disappointing stay at Comfort Lodges Islamabad. It felt like a poorly run hostel with low standards, not the guest house I expected. There was a bad smell through the building and a serious rat problem, especially at night, which made the stay stressful and uncomfortable. The washroom drain stayed blocked for over a month. I complained and followed up repeatedly, but it was never properly fixed. The food was far below an acceptable standard. I had a very bad experience and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone seeking a decent, hygienic stay in Islamabad.

The pictures online gave me a better impression than the actual stay. I found the room poorly cleaned, the sheets looked old, and the bathroom smelled bad. Staff weren’t welcoming or very willing to help, either. Thin walls meant a lot of noise at night, so I didn’t sleep well. Breakfast was cold and had very few choices. It wasn’t worth the money, and I wouldn’t stay again.

The owner was rude and arrogant, and showed no respect for privacy or basic ethics. He’d do what he wanted and then say it was his house, so he could. He also appeared to be running the guest house illegally as a hostel in a residential area where that isn’t allowed.

Rent was unjustifiably high, and I believe the security deposit is a way to scam people. The owner has his own terms and, in my experience, no intention of returning deposits. Don’t pay him a deposit, or any money before you have a legal government contract signed. Ask for copies of the contract and details of safety arrangements, including police verification of the contract. There was no legal contract for our stay, just two or three papers printed on his printer. There’s only one washroom for both floors, and the sole staff boy cooks, cleans, and handles everything. The owner is an educated but arrogant bully who constantly gaslights you. He’s rude enough to make you feel unsafe, does whatever he wants, and still gets paid by us. I can’t explain it all, but please don’t pay him a penny until you’ve signed a proper contract. Demand everything before paying. Owner/manager: Usama....

On May 21, Usama told tenants the lodge would close for Eid because he and his only staff member were leaving for their hometowns. Tenants were effectively told to vacate, despite having paid a full month’s rent. No compensation or rent adjustment was offered for the days the property would be shut. My stay at “The Comfort Lodge” was one of my worst shared accommodation experiences. I found it on Zameen.com through an agent who said he’d been placing tenants there for years. Before moving in on April 16, 2026, I confirmed with him that the billing period would run from the 16th to the 16th of the next month. He said Mr. Usama Javed, the manager, had confirmed that. I paid the full rent for April 16 to May 15 on that understanding. Then on May 1, Usama suddenly demanded extra dues, citing an undisclosed “rule” that anyone moving in mid-month had to pay for the whole calendar month. That hadn’t been mentioned before I paid, and felt highly misleading. Management seemed extremely unprofessional, with one overworked employee dealing with a large property and the manager seemingly more focused on collecting money than tenant welfare. I paid premium rent for a so-called master bedroom that was already overpriced for its condition and services. In my opinion, the deposit policy also puts pressure on tenants to leave at short notice, making it easier to keep their security deposits. Prospective tenants should be very cautious about expecting a smooth refund. The agreement has clauses heavily tilted toward management, allowing it to change the property or its operations at any time without compensating tenants. Food was honestly just enough for basic survival, certainly not worth the price. To me, the place showed poor management, a lack of transparency, weak tenant rights, and a questionable approach to hospitality. Anyone considering shared accommodation here should review every term, get commitments in writing, and think twice before paying advance rent or a deposit.
