The mountain views were the best part of my two-day stay at Hotel Al Barakaat in Hunza. The place was clean, and the staff were welcoming and very respectful. The washroom looked dated, but it was spotless. There was no food service in the hotel, so you need to arrange your own meals. The bigger issue for me was the freezing water, with no hot water available. That’s especially hard to deal with in Hunza’s cold weather. It’s a pleasant place if you’re prepared for those limitations, and I’d recommend it for the views, cleanliness, and polite staff.

Breakfast was good, cooked fresh when requested, and it was included in the low room price. The location was good, and the hotel was fairly clean. Towels were provided, and hot water was available. The mattress and pillows seemed old even though their covers had been washed, and the carpets were worn too. There was also an odd layout: a large window from the bedroom looked straight into the bathroom.

Staying here in 2023 gave me some of the most memorable moments of my trip. My room’s terrace had a spectacular mountain view, and being right in the main Karimabad bazaar made everything convenient. The shops and cafes were all an easy walk away.

The room was clean when I checked in, and the sheets were clean too. I had a TV and balcony, with a nice view, and the price was reasonable for my two-night stay. They didn’t clean the room or change the sheets after we handed over the keys for cleaning the next day. There’s no warm water at night, so expect it to be freezing. Wi-Fi was slow, and I had to go to the lounge to get a better signal. Still, it was a nice experience overall.

We’ve used Al-Barakat hotel for our tour clients for the last 5 years. The management and staff have always been friendly and cooperative, and the food is great. It’s right in the main Karimabad bazar, next to Cafe de Hunza. The lounge and dining area are calming and very clean, with a nice view. Totally recommended!
