Sanatorium Uzdrowiskowe Augustów

The staff were brilliant and always willing to go the extra mile for guests. We loved the location, the tasty meals and the range of medical treatments at Sanatorium Augustow Medical Spa. Our mattress was very comfortable, but it could use a cover, or at least a fitted sheet that stays over it, and we would have liked a second pillow. Coming back to a spotless room was such a pleasure. Ms.Agata did a beautiful job looking after it, and the rooms felt warm and inviting. The hotel was very clean, with a gorgeous, peaceful setting and lovely views of the lake and forest. Ms.. Inga in the SPA was a gem, always greeting us and sharing helpful information and recommendations. Ms.Agnieszka at reception was also consistently cheerful and helpful. The location exceeded my expectations.

The breakfast buffet was included and had plenty of fresh, healthy, tasty options. Other staff were friendly, even though we spoke only English and knew a few Polish words. Still, I’d say this depends on what you’re after. We paid quite a bit without any services included, and the place got busy early with people arriving for appointments, which could bother anyone who likes to sleep in. It’s about a mile on foot into town. The room was basic, small and somewhat stuffy. Opening the door made it quieter at night, but it eventually got too loud, so we had to close it; the AC didn’t cool the room. We had two twin beds, which were fine, but only one pillow. When I asked the man at the front desk for another at 10 PM, he seemed frustrated. I understand I didn’t speak the language, but using a translator, he plainly refused. I needed it because of a knee injury, and at a wellness-focused place I’d hoped for more accommodation. The forest view was lovely, though smoke drifted in when the door was open. We stayed one night while looking for lodging in the Augustow area. We booked through hotels.com, but only later realized it’s more of a wellness resort or sanatorium than a regular hotel, with doctors’ offices in the building and a gym equipped for physical therapy. It sits in a lovely wooded area by the lake, close to great biking and walking trails, parks and water access. There were lots of positives, but I hope these details help others decide if it suits them.

We’ve had a great time here, and this was our second visit. The staff are friendly and really know their work. We’ll definitely be back next year. The Sanatorium is great.
