Wejmutka

The beds were the main problem: they were quite uncomfortable, and I could feel the springs. At night the hallway also echoed loudly. Still, I really enjoyed my two days here. The location is perfect, very close to the start of the national park, and I found plenty to do without a car, though I could have seen more with one. Breakfast was delicious, and they packed one for me to take along when I left very early on my last day.

The price felt worthwhile, and the location is perfect. The hotel rooms are simple, with the basic necessities provided. Outside, it’s a traditional wooden building set in a fantastic herb garden, while the dining and reception area has antique-style furnishings. Breakfast was adequate.

We came away wishing we’d booked six days instead of three. Wejmutka Lodge has a strong family feel, and Olympia was such a lovely contact: warm, helpful, and full of knowledge. The rest of the team were just as welcoming. The bedrooms are simple and well cared for, while the big lounge and restaurant feel almost like a museum, with old photos, wildlife pictures, resources for enthusiasts, and hunting trophies from another era. Bialowieza Forest itself is magnificent, and we were lucky to have Irek Smerkynski, who works with the Park authority, guide us into the Strict area. He was personable and knew his stuff, and really went out of his way to help us find Bison. A trip we’ll remember, with plenty more places to explore too. For anyone drawn to nature, Bialowieza Forest is well worth visiting, and Wejmutka Lodge made a wonderful base. We were sorry to leave our new friends. Thanks so much.

Just a short walk, about 300 meters, from Bialowieza natural forest. The owners were helpful with everything, and breakfast was really good. The accommodation has a cozy hunting lodge feel. Just so you know, there are 10 cats :)
