Dream of Bydgoszcz

The apartment itself was great for a stay of a few days. It had a modern, functional kitchen, washing machine, iron and ironing board, large flat screen TV, and Wi-Fi that worked well. Mine also had a roomy balcony with chairs. The grounds were well looked after, with a small garden, and the gated complex had a security guard around the clock, so I felt safe. For around 250pln (£50) a night, it was very good value. I'd stay again, but check-in and checkout really need to be made easier. On arrival, I spent 10-15 minutes looking for the entrance. There was no clear sign, just a small marker on the building layout sign. A security guard eventually sent me to reception, which was behind a locked gate and up on the fourth floor of one of the buildings. The receptionist didn't speak English, and a woman from the adjoining office had to help me through check-in and show me to the apartment. Checkout was confusing too. Reception was closed around 8am on Saturday, and the guard didn't speak English. After about 15 minutes and a couple of phone calls, I figured out I was meant to leave the key with them. A better sign would help newcomers as well. Those hassles were the only reason I didn't give it five stars.

The room was clean, but for what I paid I expected a better deal. The windows faced the street, and between the cars and drunk people it was so loud we couldn't sleep. Closing the windows helped a bit, but then the room got really hot, and we still couldn't rest. The free Wi-Fi they advertised barely worked the first evening, and only in the far corner of the room. It was very slow, then stopped working altogether for the rest of our three-night stay. A nice lady said she'd reset it when we told her, but it didn't help. So there really wasn't free Wi-Fi. We had to buy our own shampoo because the tiny bottles weren't enough, and nobody asked if we needed supplies. Reception was mostly closed over the weekend, at least while we were there. The bathroom had a tub with a shower head but no curtain, so water went everywhere. Not a place for me. I could have found something nicer through RBnB.

The rooms are small, and the internet is basically unusable. You can see the routers, but they restart on their own and you lose the connection within five seconds. That's why...

I've been renting an apartment here since 2014, and it's okay. It's difficult to communicate with the staff because they're Ukrainian.
