Pałac Cieszyno

We spent two nights at the Palac. The room was pleasant, the bed comfortable, and even in warm weather it stayed cool, which matters since there's no AC. The area is beautiful, especially the lake beside the hotel. The service and food were the two things I liked most. Restaurant staff were really friendly and helpful, and the food was good. I especially liked the wild boar. A good place for a night or two if you're nearby.

The kitchen was the best surprise: dinner and breakfast were both good, and you could tell the team put care into the food. The dining room is down in a cellar without daylight, which feels more like a building issue. We were there for one night while our kids had scuba lessons nearby. The grounds are attractive and the building is interesting, but it clearly needs maintenance. Our room didn’t feel like a palace room. It was very small, around 15 square metres, with two narrow beds pushed together. There was a fridge and kettle, but only tea. Our children’s bedding had yellow marks, so they called us, and we replaced it with spare bedding we found in the room. We had mixed feelings and couldn’t discuss them at checkout because the manager/owner was busy shouting in the back office. The room price, especially after we added a second room on arrival, wasn’t cheap. We were also surprised that hotel guests had to pay extra to use the little “waterpark”.

We waited an hour just to place our order, then another two hours for the food. The restaurant service was horrible.

A really nice place to stay.
