Villa Happy Rose

A great place for kids.

Although the property is described as suitable for every season, our winter stay was cold, with some areas left unheated. We had told the owner we were bringing a child and booked two rooms. The room assigned to us was dirty and chilly, so we ended up using the bathroom in the other room, which had a radiator and was a bit cleaner. The owner offered compensation and an extra heater, but the setup still wasn't adequate. If we'd stayed longer, we'd have looked for somewhere else. I got sick after we left, despite sleeping in a thick bathrobe.

The guesthouse was clean and tidy, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast had a nice homemade feel and was very good. At dinner, the cod stood out: crispy and a generous serving. The handmade pierogi were delicious, and the Hungarian pancake tasted good too, though its portion was small. I wasn't keen on the pork chop, since the breading was all I could taste and the serving was small. The salad could have been more generous as well. Water and juice were included for free.

I only came for a meal, not as a hotel guest, and unfortunately I can't recommend the restaurant. Between the dishes our two families shared, the fries and broth were the only edible ones. The occasional compote was alright, but the lemon and mint water tasted like plain water. The decor is classy and the place was clean and tidy, though I think a lot of it could use updating. A young guy served us, and he was okay.
