We rode our bikes into the center of Elblag in about 20 minutes. The villa is beautifully furnished and sits peacefully in a private park at the edge of town. The rooms are lovely, the staff were very friendly, and there’s free parking right outside in a secure lot.

The owner made me a delicious breakfast and was incredibly kind. Getting around was easy, with a tram depot about 600 meters away, and I had no trouble getting an invoice for my business stay. I only spent one night here, but it’s a charming place, set apart from the city center while still easy to reach. Some people mention the old floors creaking. To me, that’s part of the charm of an old building, where everything creaks.

The mattress felt like the Norwegian mountains, maybe with a massage function 🤣, and the pillows were tall and thick, though nice. There were no hangers, but the host showed me where and how to put my things. I also found dust from the closet, sand on the windowsill, and cobwebs in the hallways. Maybe the sand was ours, but I’m not making up what I saw after the “cleaning.” The carpet may have been vacuumed. My backpack ended up in the hallway, the only place shoes were allowed. If it was in the way, I could have put it on an armchair and then moved it back, as in most hotels. My toiletry bag and face cloth were taken from the mirror and hung on a cabinet at toilet level. For hygiene, I think that cabinet is only suitable for dirty laundry, not towels. The historic manor has restrictions from the start. When I raised the issue of my personal space, the host wasn’t impressed, saying no personal items had apparently been touched. He also said “sometimes guests leave earlier,” which didn’t surprise me. I suspect this happens when a guest is seen as difficult for moving a table 20 cm to make space for a backpack, or shifting a bed to reach the outlets. That’s just a guess, though. After all, nobody moved anything.

The manor house is stylish, very pretty, and furnished in keeping with its period. It’s surrounded by greenery, with a small pond nearby, and the grounds have a locked gate, including during the day. The staff were friendly and adjusted breakfast for a vegan. They were happy to refill anything that ran out. Phone contact was good, though I couldn’t reach them by email.
