Hotel Artus

We could see St Mary's from room 505, on a nice street, and there was no noise or disturbance during our trip. The room and bed were both cosy and everything was very clean. We stayed in January for an unbelievable price, with a great location that would be hard to beat. Checkout at noon was great, and we’ll come back.

Our room looked onto the inner courtyard and was clean and pleasant. The hotel’s location was excellent. I only missed having slippers: walking barefoot after a shower isn’t pleasant, and disposable ones shouldn’t be difficult to provide.

From the window you can see Gdansk Cathedral. The old town location is great, about a two-minute walk from Long Square and Neptun Fountain, and roughly 15 minutes on foot from the train station or Forum Mall.

The location is handy for sightseeing, and the view of the church is beautiful, but the street gets very busy with loud drunk people in the evening and at night, so bring earplugs. The rest of the stay was a mess. There was old chewing gum in two spots on the bed linen in my first room. I went down to reception three times asking for clean sheets, then asked for a new room because they had none. In the replacement room, the door wouldn’t lock from either side. The lock flashed red and buzzed as if it had locked, but I could pull the handle down and walk right in. The curtains were fitted wrong and wouldn’t close, which was especially unpleasant with the church’s powerful lights at night. The fridge was disgusting and smelled, and in both rooms the shower handle was almost falling out of the wall. I still can’t understand how this is a three-star hotel with nice reviews.
