Blue Mandarin Apartments

The location made it nice and quiet at night, even though the apartment is only 5-10 minutes’ walk from the Old Town. The WWII museum is just across the street, with two convenience stores and several restaurants a couple of minutes away. Inside, it was cosy, very clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and curtains that kept the light out. The living room TV is huge, and we had everything we needed for our stay. We thought it was good value, and I appreciated getting the security deposit back promptly after checkout. The shower gave us some trouble, and it got worse on our last day. It seemed like it would be a nice shower otherwise. We told reception, and they said they’d look into it after checkout, so hopefully it won’t affect future guests.

We booked through Booking.com for a holiday in Gdańsk after seeing an 8-star rating and thinking the price and quality looked reasonable. Our confirmation was for a superior-type apartment, with the details shown in the attached pictures. But when we arrived and went inside, it was clearly a different apartment. The rental provider said there were no others available and this was what we’d get. We took photos of several problems: water from the shower sprayed onto the ceiling, the toilet paper holder was broken, the place looked run-down, the walls were dirty, and the kitchen sink faucet was barely attached. The host wouldn’t discuss these issues. We were told there would be no solution, to take it or leave it, and they didn’t offer a lower price. The attached pictures are there for people to judge for themselves. To us, there was a significant gap between the apartment we booked and the one we received, which didn’t look like an 8-star place. Be very careful with this company and make sure you know exactly what you’re paying for. I won’t use or recommend this rental provider again.

We were there in December, and the apartment was warm, cosy and nicely equipped. It’s handy for the Old Town and lots of other attractions.

Blue Mandarin Apartments - Nad Motławą suited us well for an independent stay, with everything you need for everyday life, just like at home. It’s very close to Amber Sky and the old town, and everything is walkable. There are lots of small local shops nearby. I’ll definitely come back.
