La Guitarra Hostel

I stayed here recently and had a terrible time. In the evening, two Polish guests drank heavily, and one was already very drunk. Through the night they kept switching the lights on and off, arguing and making noise, even with other people in the room. Asking them to stop didn’t help. Around 2 a.m. they began smoking cannabis in the room, then did it again a couple of hours later, so getting any sleep was practically impossible. This wasn’t my first bad experience at this hostel. The atmosphere is generally unfriendly, and most guests don’t answer greetings and seem to avoid eye contact. I wouldn’t recommend it to travelers who want a peaceful stay. It might only suit people looking to drink, fight, and disturb others.

The location is the main thing this place has going for it. The kitchen was okay, but there wasn't much of a social atmosphere, as other people have mentioned. The staff barely greeted us, and the beds had hair left by previous guests. There was also a strong sewage smell in the rooms and bathrooms. I guess you get what you pay for.

I booked a triple room through Booking.com for me and my two children this weekend, but when we arrived, reception said the room was already occupied. They offered us two other rooms instead. When I explained that wouldn't work for us, all I was told was, “If you don’t like it, you can file a complaint.” It was Saturday evening, I was on my own with the kids, and nobody offered to help. Booking.com still hasn't answered my complaint or given me any explanation. I was very disappointed by the hotel's attitude and service. I’d strongly recommend avoiding La Guitarra Hostel Gdańsk if you don’t want your trip ruined.

I felt less safe here than at any hostel I've stayed in. I walked into a room where everyone was drinking and smoking, couldn't sleep, and was woken up against my will. I hate to imagine what else was going on. The beds were awful too: DISGUSTING sheets and yellow pillows. The bathrooms reeked of smoke, and the shower tray was just a hole in the wall with no drain. The door handles felt oily. I heard very little English, the shared area looked worn out, and some of the signs on the doors were broken or unreadable.
