Radisson Red Gdansk

I expected a bathtub because the booking photos showed one, and having one mattered to me. Once I arrived, I learned it was considered “optional,” which had never been mentioned when I booked. I paid another $55 USD at reception to upgrade to the room I thought I’d reserved. I contacted Radisson customer service after my stay. More than a month later, the manager apologized and sent 20,000 Radisson Rewards points without first asking how I wanted to be compensated or discussing it with me. I’ve since contacted him twice asking for a proper refund instead, and he hasn’t replied. While I was there, the manager was contacted twice but didn’t offer help or a solution. The misleading room details, lack of support at the hotel, and no follow-up afterward made for a very frustrating experience. Points aren’t an acceptable substitute for a refund when the hotel made the mistake. I expected more from a Radisson-branded property. I can’t recommend it and won’t return.

The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and quiet, and the location puts you close to pretty much everything in Gdansk. We got an upgrade too, which was a nice bonus. Front desk service was minimal, but that didn’t bother me. The pillows were really flat, though. Cute touch: hang the little 'dont clean my room' bag on the door and there’s a snack in it the next day. Fun and environmentally friendly. Lovely hotel all in all, love it!

I really enjoyed the room, especially the quiet, good sleep, soft linens, and big fluffy towels. The decor suited my taste, and there were plenty of places to sit, including a big comfy armchair and a padded window seat that was fun for coffee in the morning. The free Julius Meinl coffee and tea and complimentary water were appreciated. Lighting, switches, sockets, and charging options were all thought out well. The air conditioning was surprisingly quiet, and easy to adjust or turn off since I like a mild, cozy room rather than an ice box. The bathroom had a lovely freestanding soaking tub and high quality amenities that smelled great. The coffee machine and tub could use more regular maintenance, though, as both made little puddles in the room. A polished exterior window would also make it easier to enjoy the view of Gdansk next time. Julia at reception was friendly and helpful, and handled my shoe sponge mission with a laugh. She made me feel like coming back. The location is a highlight for me, right in the heart of old town Gdansk, and I liked the neon idea too. I recently joined the Radisson membership program and look forward to trying more of their hotels. For a more intimate, hotel focused feel, I’d have preferred breakfast in a dedicated area for the hotel building instead of the WITJ restaurant, and a separate lobby and reception without toilets shared with WITJ. I had a very nice stay and made the most of my room. A solid four stars with room to improve. The vibe felt sexy and cool, yet cozy and warm.

The room had a high ceiling, a big bed, lots of space, and looked great. A friendly woman at the counter also gave us plenty of ideas for enjoying Gdańsk when we arrived. The hotel is right in the middle of the city, so the location is amazing. The shower was the one problem. Unless you sit in the bathtub, water gets all over the bathroom. I’d come back, but only if I could get a room with a proper shower.
