Soul House Gdansk Old Town

The communication was slow, confusing, and often rude, and the management at Soul Rooms Old Town Gdansk came across as inflexible and disrespectful. I found the whole approach unprofessional and lacking in transparency and basic customer service. I’d avoid the place. Gdańsk has plenty of other accommodations that treat guests fairly.

At 2 am, we were walking around with all our bags trying to find the room we’d paid for. The hotel has two buildings, but they hadn’t told us that, and the room number and door code in their message didn’t match where we’d arrived. We messaged them on Booking and got no reply. The message had been in Polish even though our reservation showed none of us was Polish, and we’d contacted them in English. The room itself was okay but small, and there’s no elevator. We were extremely disappointed. Such a waste of money.

For what you pay, the location is doing most of the work. By Polish standards it’s an overpriced budget hotel, with budget level service and small, basic rooms. In a small city like Gdańsk, I’m not sure it’s worth it. There’s no staff on site, parking costs extra, and I had to call twice, first because they’d assigned us the wrong room, then to get the WiFi password. The shower gel dispenser was empty, a bedside lamp had no bulb, and the pillows were terrible. At half the price, I’d have been fine with all that. I didn’t pay half.

The location is the one real plus. The room was tiny, with just two little bars of soap for toiletries, and early check-in before 15.00 hrs wasn’t possible. That seems absurd when check-out is by 11.00. It was warm in the cold weather, which was fine then, but I can only imagine how hot it gets in summer. I don’t recommend it.
