Villa Gdansk

The neighbours left the TV on from 6 to 8 in the morning, and when we complained again, nobody offered an alternative. Earlier, we'd asked reception to sort out the noise, but they only told us to understand because the neighbours would be leaving early. We had left our luggage and tried to rest, but there was no privacy at all. The website called the room soundproof, yet we could hear neighbours coughing, talking, and breathing. There were other problems too. The open shower had no floor slope, so the bathroom flooded like a pool, and the shower shelf was rusty and poorly fitted. The bedroom seemed to have been a larger room, with a very low ceiling that was uncomfortable in places. Its tiny balcony was split in two with the neighbours. There were only two and a half toilet rolls, and the big blanket barely covered half the bed. This was an awful stay, mainly because I found the owners dishonest, though the place itself had issues too. After we left, I noticed the owner told booking.com we never checked in, showing that I cancelled and paid 0 PLN, even though I was charged the full 540PLN. The owner later tried to reply to my booking.com review. I regret not taking more pictures of this monstrosity. This review is for a 2-star hotel. If you're visiting Gdansk, I think it makes more sense to spend a little extra for somewhere more central, since this is 30 minutes by cab or 40 by public transport. Don't be fooled by the booking.com reviews. If the owner sees trouble, they'll say you never checked in. The owners are thieves, in my view, and don't deserve even one star. Bravo! PS. Hospitality clearly isn't for the owner. Find yourself a different job, seriously.

The rooms were cosy and clean, with new, comfortable beds. It was very quiet, though we're in the middle of nowhere, so that's to be expected. Friendly staff too. Recommended.

The rooms were mostly clean, but half the towels were torn and definitely not white. The double bed's quilt was too short, and the bathroom smelled really bad from the piping. After midnight, there was no hot water at all. When we told the owner, he said he was asleep and didn't know whether there had been hot water. We heard everything other guests said through the paper-thin walls. The breakfast arrangements also fell apart. Guests staying one day before and one day after the wedding got no breakfast because the owners said it wasn't worth preparing for just two people. They'd paid for their stay in advance, but when they wanted to cancel the last night, the owner said he couldn't correct the receipt. That's nonsense. We'd booked the whole place directly with the owner a year ahead for our wedding guests, since it was the closest option and we didn't want wedding and other guests mixed together. We'd checked booking.com and Google reviews and thought it'd be okay, but I was so wrong. We paid the full amount around the first week of July 2020, without breakfast because we were still finalising guest numbers. The owner said we could give him the number about a week before and pay for breakfast then. When I called to arrange it, his wife first said to come by, then called back 15 minutes later to say they wouldn't provide breakfast. Her reason was that COVID-19 rules would mean serving over 4-5 hours and it wouldn't pay off. That hadn't been a problem two weeks earlier when they took our full payment. It's sad to say, but the owners are liars and cheaters who only want money. I strongly advise against this place and wish I'd chosen another. I wish I'd recorded the conversations too. This is the worst customer service I've experienced anywhere.

They charged me in EUR even though I didn't want that, and used a very poor exchange rate. I ended up paying about 10% extra. Dishonest staff.
