I'd booked through Booking.com two months ahead, but only a few days before my visit I got an email saying the hotel had to cancel because of a power outage. They offered a hostel in Gdańsk, 6 km from the beach, so I had to find somewhere else in a hurry. I can't say whether the outage was genuine, but the reviews suggest this has happened before.

A week before we were meant to arrive, the hotel called to say we didn't need to cancel, even though we'd already paid the full amount on the day we booked. They couldn't arrange replacement accommodation, and getting our money back took several phone calls and emails. We'd reserved the room two months in advance. I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel.

The main hassle was getting water everywhere in the bathroom during a shower, since there's no curtain or sliding door between the shower and the sink and toilet. A mat or squeegee could help. Parking nearby is also hard, even when you just need to stop briefly to unload. Otherwise, we were pleased with the decor, location and service. The rooms are clean and nicely done, restaurants are close, and the city beach is about a 12-minute walk. The 24-hour reception is useful, and with the key card from check-in you can get in late without waiting for anyone.

We came back around 4 p.m. expecting to go up to our room, only to be told there wasn't one for us. This was after arriving at 11 a.m., checking in without any problem being mentioned, leaving our bags in storage and heading out for a walk. The staff said the payment hadn't gone through, even though we'd paid and showed them the confirmation email, along with ID confirming our registration and payment. The manager was rude and told us to leave. The way they handled things and communicated was a zero, and I really don't recommend this place.
