Pałac na Wodzie

Room 018 is a lovely, huge room for four. It’s so spacious it could use a couch or small table. The beds are thick and made for very good sleep. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and my favorite was the white cottage cheese. Dinner was good and there was plenty of it. The mountains aren’t close enough to walk to for a hike, but that didn’t matter to us. Palac at Wodzie is a little wonderland. We enjoyed our stay. It’s a decent hotel in a historical building being converted into one, so some things are modern, some are getting dated, and a few need repairs.

The staff were amazing, and the place itself is lovely. Breakfast was yummy, while the restaurant food was okay. The massage staff were friendly too. The saunas are tiny, and there are only two, so they weren’t that great. There isn’t much space to hike around since it’s surrounded by roads, and you can hear the cars. The balcony view on both sides was kinda meh.

The beds were comfortable and the room was clean, but I won't come back. The walk-in shower is ridiculous: its glass panel is so narrow that water ends up all over the bathroom. In the apartment wing it was only 19°C in the evening, with 4°C outside. The fan coil kept running loudly for hours with the setting at 22°C and still couldn't warm the room. I asked reception to move me somewhere warmer, but the other room was even colder. I ended up getting sick. I don't understand how a hotel can operate without proper heating.

The building looks attractive outside and in photos, but inside it feels as if money was spent on it in the 2000s and nobody has cared for it since. We had the worst food poisoning we've ever experienced. Breakfast was a poor selection, the milk was sour, and there was no water to drink. How can they serve breakfast without proper cooling? Partway through our meal, a woman there told us to move tables for a group, without even speaking to us first. We never saw anyone at reception. A lamp built into the bed frame was broken and looked dangerous electrically. The owner seems to be in complete denial and thinks everyone is lying. I hope an authority checks the place, or even shuts it down. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
