Hotel Calisia

The optional omelet at breakfast was nice. The bed was comfortable, but the comforter was too small. I’m 185 cm, which isn’t very tall, yet half my feet and legs were left uncovered.

The staff were very nice and helpful, and breakfast was good. I wanted scrambled eggs, and they made them fresh, hot, and tasty in the little open kitchen where guests could watch. The sheets and towels were worn, but clean. The place itself really needed a major refurbishment. You can see the attached pictures. Wallpaper was peeling, and the drafty windows were a real problem in the cold weather. There wasn’t even a kettle in the room, so I couldn’t make tea or coffee to warm up. There were two bottles of water, but no bottle opener, which made them pretty much useless. I’ve seen worse places, but they weren’t as expensive or advertised as a “three star hotel.” Three stars would be too generous, so I’m giving it two.

The rooms could use renovation, especially the carpets and wallpaper. Laminate floors and painted walls would be better, though they’re already making improvements one room at a time. The kitchen is good, and everyone speaks decent English. The reception girls are always ready to help, and David the bartender is an exceptionally good person and a professional. Very friendly staff, and good value for the money. Thank you and goodbye!

Great location and very economical. The staff were super friendly and cooperative.
