The towels on my latest visit really put me off. They were hard and ragged, like they'd been chewed by a rat, and looked more like rough floor rags. After 14 years, towels like that should be thrown away. Staff need to pay attention to hygiene. I first visited this hostel 13 or 14 years ago, and the rooms haven't changed since. Over the years, I sometimes came three times a year with the girls, staying two or three nights. I was there for a day yesterday. It's a good location in a quiet area, and breakfast is plentiful enough for everyone to find something. The rooms are okay and the customer service is good. I still have fond memories and don't regret my time there, so I recommend it despite the towels.

It's about 2 km from the centre of Kalisz, with a pleasant riverside walk into town. In summer, you can hire bikes for the river cycle path, Winiary forest, or town. The hotel is comfortable and friendly, good value, and the breakfast is excellent. Highly recommended.

The hotel seems untouched since communist times. If you've just watched the Chernobyl documentary and want to imagine what 1986 was like, Hotel 7 Kalisz might be the place for you.

This place ought to be a motel. The chicken costs twice as much and tastes worse than KFC 🍗. The parking and bathroom are poor too.
