It was cold and smelled old, with none of the basics provided, not even a towel or soap. There wasn’t a stove to cook on either, just a yellowing kettle. The room looked like it came straight from the communist era. The furniture was falling apart, and the bed was an old sofa with a mattress that sank into the middle overnight. With the mattress raised at the sides, you couldn’t reach anything. I don’t recommend it!

The place itself is fine, but this incident put me off and I wouldn’t recommend it. We arrived early and left our luggage at the resort. When we came back for it, it was unlocked. Nothing was missing, but it made us suspicious. There was a slightly broken TV remote in our room, though it worked. An hour after we left, the owner rang, furious, said we’d broken it, and demanded payment. She claimed it cost 75 złoty on Allegro. Her sense of propriety seemed to disappear during the call. To keep the peace, we asked her to text us the TV model and a picture of the remote, but she never did. I wonder how many people she’s conned over a broken remote that I suspect had been like that for a while. She thought she’d found another naive person, but unfortunately for her, she hadn’t.

This place may have seen better days, though the rooms were clean and even quite nice. They were a little neglected: the sink was cracked, and there was plastic wrap hanging over the shower instead of a proper enclosure. For this price, I didn’t expect better, and I was satisfied, but still a bit disappointed. The main letdown was the playground out front. At least it exists, but the sandbox had no sand, and the swing felt unstable, like it was attached poorly. There could be a lot of fun there, but things were broken and damaged. My daughter was happy and could manage on her own, though as a somewhat overprotective dad I still felt uneasy. Fix those fairly minor problems and I’d give it 5 stars. As it stands, it’s 4.

We had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner at the nearby Mieszko Hotel, with carols and live music, and Villa Casino guests were offered a 50% discount at Biały Jar by the wonderful woman who runs the place. The guesthouse itself is peaceful and clean, close to the promenade. All of that came at a great price. Thanks for everything.
