Hotel Baltic Plaza mediSPA & FIT

The balcony felt more like a little terrace, and the sunset view was lovely. The apartment had enough room for our family of four, and the location was handy, about 500 m from the sea. There were some issues, though: the fridge was too small for family use, the internet kept cutting out, and a sewage smell from outside came through a couple of times, so we had to shut the windows quickly.

The kids' facilities were a plus for us. There are two playrooms with a good range of toys, though quite a few are broken, and the pool area can be fun for children who don't mind the 27°C water. Staff were kind and helpful despite many seeming bored or annoyed. Most spoke German rather than English, but they tried hard to understand us and make sure we were comfortable. I'd rate the staff 9/10, food 8.5/10, our room 7/10, and the children's areas 8.5/10. Our room had a small sliding door between the bedroom and living room. We came mainly for the sauna, thinking we could take turns relaxing, and that didn't work out. The three saunas are inside the pool area, where you have to wear a swimsuit and there's nowhere to lie down or take a quiet break between sessions. If you like to meditate, read, or unwind in a sauna space, you won't get that here. The pool room stays extremely loud, from before the 10 am opening until near closing, at 6 pm on weekdays and 8 pm on weekends. Parents and kids crowd the entrance to get in first, some moving the waiting tape as soon as it hits 10 even before the lifeguard arrives. The pool and saunas are also shared with the new “twin hotel” Blue and Green, where the restaurant is, so guests from both hotels use one small pool that already feels uncomfortable with 15 people, plus two jacuzzis that each fit three. This felt more like a budget family hotel marketed as a four-star spa. Things were falling apart in both the bedroom and common areas, and it seemed like no one cared. Dogs are allowed, which I usually don't mind, but with lots of dogs there can be barking and some pee inside the hotel, which I find unacceptable. The wet corridors from children walking back to rooms after swimming and the children screaming until 9 pm were also hard to deal with. It might suit families with older children who can use the pool and playrooms by themselves while parents relax in the bedroom, and who aren't bothered by dogs or poor maintenance. For us, with small children who may not enjoy or manage the cold water, the noise and lack of a peaceful sauna made it a poor fit. The whole stay was a 6/10.

It was a peaceful, beautiful hotel, and I really enjoyed staying there. The place felt quite luxurious and the service was high quality.

We left early and no one asked what was wrong or offered an apology or refund. When we finally brought up the problems, reception rudely told us to write them down and send them in. They never checked whether we liked the stay or the food. I don't recommend this place. It costs a lot for what you get, and we felt cheated out of our money without even hearing an apology. The food was a letdown for the price. Desserts and meal choices were better on weekends than during the week, though the price stayed the same, which made Monday through Thursday feel overpriced. Much of the food was fatty, roughly chopped meat in salty sauces or mince. There was baked fish in sauce nearly every day, and twice in a week we had breaded fish squares that tasted like cheap fish fingers. I suspect the food was frozen rather than fresh. For a seaside hotel, there was no herring, mackerel, or sprats, just bony white fish in sauce that was hard to eat. On Friday we ordered sushi from town. Our pet-friendly room cost extra, but there was no water bowl for the dog. There was only liquid soap, no shampoo or shower gel, so bring your own. No one helped with luggage, and you can't choose your room, which could be a real problem if you have mobility issues. The pool was overcrowded even off-season, with around 60 rooms sharing a small pool, five loungers, and two jacuzzis. The spa vouchers were another mess: we were supposed to have 100 PLN per adult, but the spa didn't know and overcharged us. After we sorted it out with them, reception tried to charge us again at checkout. They made us feel like thieves for objecting to the extra charge. We'd been granted a late checkout at 1 pm instead of 11, depending on availability. Still, at 11:10 on checkout day, reception called to ask if we'd requested a late checkout while I was already carrying our bags downstairs.
