Sanatorium Uzdrowiskowe Mewa

The saltwater pool at the Mewa Sanatorium deserves a special mention. It’s brand new, and there are exercise classes there in the mornings. Guests can use it in the afternoons, along with the sauna, and it’s worth trying the saltwater bath in the jacuzzi or pool. The lifeguards are very friendly and helpful. Bathing time is limited to 50 minutes. The water is 30°C with 4% salt, and you can buy a swimming cap from the vending machine outside the pool.

If you’re an early riser and want an affordable room right by the lake promenade, this could work for you. The building looks grand, especially at night, and we were lucky to get one of the few parking spaces. There was a 50 zloty deposit for the key. Our room was large, the shower bathroom was adequate, and we pushed the beds together because they were far apart. The restaurant staff were friendly, and it was normally noisy, as you’d expect with 30 tables of six people each. Since it’s a sanatorium, we knew we had to get to breakfast early or there’d be nothing left. Guests are split into two groups, and we were given a fixed table with breakfast from 8 to 8:45 a.m. They could be more flexible and offer 8 to 10:30 for regular holidaymakers who don’t have sanatorium treatments. The rooms were only cleaned every four days, which wasn’t pleasant with sand under our shoes. After four days, the cleaner seemed unfriendly and very rushed. Reception only spoke Polish, which made communication difficult. At least some English would have helped. The wellness area is in two other hotels and is free, but you have to find it, since the directions were only in Polish.

We visited in April, around Easter, before the season, and the price for accommodation with full board was very reasonable. The resort is practically on the seafront, and there’s plenty to do in Kołobrzeg, so it’s easy to have a good time. The food was delicious, with the menu changing every day and pleasant surprises each time. I was extremely happy with my stay and glad to give the highest rating. The rooms were clean and freshly renovated, with comfortable mattresses. They also had toiletries, towels, a hairdryer, kettle, and refrigerator, plus a few small things that turned out to be really useful. Part D is lovely and renovated, and the location is perfect for heading straight to the promenade and beach. I stayed privately and paid the full cost myself, outside the National Health Fund. The meals were tasty, but the dining room was poorly organized and crowded at breakfast and dinner. The women working there were very kind and smiling despite having a huge workload. The place was very dirty. I haven’t seen a bathroom, especially a toilet, that filthy in ages. I took photos and complained, so a cleaning crew was sent, but I still felt disgusted. I also noticed that several similarly negative comments about cleanliness, written by German guests in July this year, were missing from the reviews.
